As per memorandum circular no. 01-M-(65)-08 dated November 21, 2008 issued by the Bureau of Local Government Finance, Catarman, Northern Samar was classified as a first class municipality. This is the result of effective governance of the past and present administrations and collaboration of all sectors in the municipality.

Income. Based on the data submitted by the Treasurer’s Office, the total income of the municipality for the year 2015 is P241,533.780.00. The threeincome source of the LGU are as follows: Share from National Tax Collections (IRA) amounting to P176,227,002.00 (72.96%), local source which includes the tax and non-tax revenues with an amount of P64,461,699.54 (26.69%) and  Extraordinary Receipts/Grants/Aids amounted to 845,078.46 (0.35%).
